Crimped or pressed plumbing connections are permanently created with special copper fittings attached to copper tubing with a powered crimping tool. Thousands of pounds-force per square inch of pressure is needed to deform the fitting to make a water tight seal. The special fittings are manufactured with a sealant inside, which slides over the tubing and compressed against the inner copper tubing with a crimp tool.
